Product Description

Overview

ITS resells PaperCut NG, ChargeBack and MF in the United Kingdom, Europe and North America and aims to provide a total solution to meet your organisation’s requirements. Our systems start from software only print management solutions built around PaperCut NG or Chargeback and grow to unified print and copy systems powered by PaperCut MF.

PaperCut allows corporate and government organisations of any size to track, control and optionally charge-back for the printing and copying performed by their users. The implementation of a solution reduces paper and toner waste, cuts costs, reduces the impact of your organisation’s paper output on the environment and makes both end-users and departments more accountable. PaperCut provides access to detailed reports that illustrate the environmental impact of your organisation’s paper output and allow you to make the correct policy and purchasing decisions. PaperCut provides genuine cross-platform support and can operate in most networking environments including those that use Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, RM or LDAP for authentication with options to utilise Windows, Novell Open Enterprise (OES), Mac and Linux print servers with full pop-up messaging support on Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix clients.

How can PaperCut benefit my organisation?

  • PaperCut allows you to track printing and copying from virtually any printer, copier or multi-functional device (MFD) ensuring that all paper output in your organisation is transparent and totally measurable.
  • PaperCut monitors the printing and copying of every user on your network ensuring that all users are fully accountable for their actions.
  • PaperCut includes an optional system of user or departmental balances (shared accounts) allowing your organisation to control, limit and track the amount of printing and copying users, departments or cost-centres can perform, reducing waste and dramatically cutting costs, whilst increasing accountability.
  • PaperCut offers an optional system of third-party charging that allows print and copy jobs to be billed-back to clients, with full client-matter number and project / phase support, which allows for improved accountability and billing.
  • PaperCut features rules that can be implemented to cancel or restrict jobs that are sent to inappropriate print devices, regulating the print process and helping to cut costs.
  • PaperCut reduces paper output waste and helps ensure that the appropriate print device is used assisting your organisation to meet its environmental obligations central to today’s green agenda.
  • PaperCut can greatly enhance printing security through a system of secure print release. The user interacts with a web-based or print release station software or hardware terminal attached to MFDs or embedded software running on these devices and releases their print jobs only when they are on hand to collect them.
  • PaperCut can discover, track and control any locally installed printers reigning in spending in an area that is notoriously difficult to monitor and control and unlike other solutions this functionality is included as standard.
  • PaperCut includes web printing as standard which allows users to print from laptops, PDAs and smart phones via your wireless network without the need to install software or printer drivers hence ensuring inclusivity of print service provision for all users.
  • PaperCut fits right in with your existing networking infrastructure through its support for Windows, Mac and Linux servers, including Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES), eliminating the need to implement Windows print servers in non-Microsoft environments unless required.
  • PaperCut keeps your end-users happy and well informed about their print activities through its end-user web portal and pop-up messages that offer the same functionality regardless of whether people are using Windows, Mac, Linux or UNIX clients.

Key Features

  • Innovative 100% web-based administration allowing administrative control from anywhere on the network.
  • Pop-up messages that communicate with the user informing them of the number of pages of their print job, its cost and asking them if they wish to continue which provide the same experience on Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix clients.
  • A system of balances or quotas used to monitor or control the amount of printing or copying.
  • The ability to charge to departmental shared accounts and even restrict printing when the shared account is depleted or an overdraft facility has been fully utilised, great for cost centres and departments.
  • Genuine cross-platform support that allows PaperCut to be installed on Windows, Mac and Linux servers including Novell OES.
  • Import users and groups from Active Directory or LDAP servers such as, but not limited to, Novell eDirectory or OpenDirectory.
  • Extensive web-based reports which can be exported into HTML, PDF and CSV file formats and scheduled to be automatically delivered by e-mail.
  • Secure print release options that only allow the user who submitted the print job to collect it from the printer or multi-functional device (MFD). This can be achieved via a system of web-based print release, print release station software (that runs on Windows, Mac and Linux), hardware terminals connect to MFDs or embedded software running on MFDs.
  • Pull printing (we call it Find Me Printing) that allows users to print to a central queue and collect their job from a printer or multi-functional device (MFD) in the location of their convenience at a time to suit.
  • Full support for multiple print servers included at no extra cost.
  • Options to track and control local printing at no extra cost!
  • The ability to control and monitor virtually any copier or multi-functional device (MFD) regardless of whether they are networked.
  • Support for an enormous range of page description languages (PDLs) including PCL, PostScript and many more.
  • Cluster support allowing for the clustering of both the print and copy control solution, its database and print queues.
  • Differential print charging allowing costs to be defined per printer with varied prices for colour, duplex and large form printing.
  • Support for plotters and other large format devices.
  • Integration with a wide range of cards for user authentication and balance management including magnetic stripe, barcode or “smart card” technologies such as Mifare, HID and more.
  • Scalability up to 100,000+ users with the option to take this further with application server clustering.
  • Options to use external databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, the free Microsoft SQL Server Express or the free/open source PostgreSQL and MySQL database engine.
  • Error notifications when printers are in error.
  • Utilises the latest development technologies including XML web services and service oriented architecture.
  • Self-maintaining system requiring minimal administration.
  • Open architecture - full documentation and APIs provided to all customers. Source code access available on request.
  • Vendor neutral - no hardware vendor or operating system lock-in.
