Overview

ITS Onelog is the ultimate tool to track and control the web-based resources that your college or university accesses. Onelog can monitor the usage of subscription databases and e-journals hosted online, free web links and internally hosted web-based services and content. Onelog can also seamlessly log users onto web-based resources that require password authentication and monitor exactly who has been using resources even if they use IP-based authentication.

Onelog provides the user with the ability to logon once, and then be automatically connected to any password or IP protected resource. Onelog allows administrators to give users access to Internet resources without revealing confidential logon information. Onelog has the unique ability to handle authentication in the manner most suited to the user's location. For example when on campus Onelog might utilise IP-based access, while off-site the user might be logged on using an institutional username and password. Onelog knows exactly who has been using your web-resources, from where and when and provides access to powerful reports that ensure your college or university always make the correct licensing decisions.

How can Onelog benefit my school, college or university?

  • Onelog can automatically log students and staff on to any web-based resource that requires a username and password radically simplifying access to password-protected resources.
  • Onelog automatically submits organisational and pooled combinations of username password credentials to web-resources so that users never need to know these details ensuring that sensitive username password combinations do not leave your organisation.
  • Onelog can speed up and simplify access to password protected resources where the user has their own password. Students and staff members “teach” Onelog their logon credentials which are then stored and automatically used on future occasions.
  • Onelog can track and report on the usage of any web-based resource from subscription content to e-journals, free web links and web-based systems resident on your intranet including as e-learning packages such as Moodle and Blackboard, ensuring that you know exactly what is being used and by whom.
  • Onelog can determine who has been using a web-based resource even if it is IP-protected, ensuring full usage patterns are known.
  • Onelog’s in-depth reports illustrate usage trends highlighting resources that are under or over-utilised allowing you to make the correct licensing decisions and help in negotiations with publishers.
  • Onelog fits straight in with your staff and students’ working practices. Web-based resources tracked and controlled by Onelog can be accessed just as they always have been; from your home page, intranet, federated search application, from Google search results, favourites and web links forwarded by colleagues and friends. This ensures quick acceptance by end-users and high levels of satisfaction.
  • Onelog is easy to look after, ITS maintain the entire back-end configuration for the resources your college or university uses. All you need to do is quickly configure your resources via an intuitive browser-based interface and ITS is always there to help you if you get stuck along the way.
